Looking for that perfect home that has privacy, land, atmosphere and comfort?  Look no further, I’ve found it for you!  Located at the end of a cul-de-sac, with an acre of land (that’s beautifully landscaped), gas lanterns at either side of the hand-crafted mahogany front door… oh, so country French… straight from Baton Rouge.  This home features approximately 5,038 square feet of comfort.  Oversized three car side entry garage, four bedrooms, living room (or study), hearth room, very formal dining room, theatre room (complete with red curtains over the television for drama!), a gathering room upstairs, a monster playroom plus a large deck off the kitchen that opens to a wooded wonderland.

Main Level:

Entry:  11 x 14 x 20.  Hardwood flooring (actually, all the main floors downstairs are wood, with the exception of the carpet insert in the hearth room), curved formal stairway capped by a period brass chandelier with a lift.

Living Room/Study:  14 x 15.  Massive pocket doors allow privacy.  The walls have a dark oak wainscoting with faux leather paint treatment above.  Built-in bookshelves, woodburning fireplace with gas logs currently in place, and an unbeatable ceiling………an antique world map done in sepia.

Formal Dining Room:  14 x 15.  Yes, there is a wood burning fireplace in the dining room!  Equipped at the moment with gas logs.  Both the mantle, as well as a stained glass window in the master bath, were salvaged from a St. Louis home built in the 1870’s.

Hearth Room:  16 x 21.  Built-in bookshelves flank the fireplace, and feature space for a television.  Four palladium windows open to the view, with a matching arch over the doorway to create the illusion of five.  There is a breakfast area between the hearth room and the open kitchen.

Kitchen:  20 x 14.  Granite counter tops, stainless appliances, breakfast bar, two sinks (both with garbage disposals) are what most are looking for in a kitchen…….but there is more here.  The stove top is a six burner gas by Thermador, as are the double ovens.  There is, of course, a built-in Sub-zero refrigerator with a furniture finish, plus two Sub-zero refrigerated drawers.  A great place to cook, and, because of the floor plan, an even greater place to just hang out.

Utility Room:  6.8 x 11.  Just before the laundry room is the butler’s pantry, separated by pocket doors…….a unique feature of the laundry room is the brick wall on one side, actually the finished back of the dining room fireplace.  Another nice feature, besides a laundry chute,  is the drying area for either hand washed items, or clothes just out of the washing machine.  Or, you may give your favorite pup a bath here.  It’s a great set-up.

Master Bedroom:  13 x 18.7.  A large palladium window is the main feature of this room.  How lovely to wake to such a pleasant view.  The master bath is a masterpiece of serenity.  With crème marble on the floors and the countertops and the walls painted a shade darker, the woodwork and trim are white.  His and her vanities, an enormous walk-in closet, large shower and whirlpool tub do nothing but enhance the serenity.

Second Level:

At the top of the back stairway is the playroom, and then beyond that and up a few more steps is a large “gathering” area, the bedrooms and the theatre room are off this area.

Playroom:  32 x 13.5.  This room features a vaulted ceiling and is highlighted by an oval leaded glass window on the far wall.

Gathering Area”:  25 x 15.  A place to read, study or just spend some serious time daydreaming.  Open on one side to the formal staircase and on the other, two dormer windows with storage space for blankets, pillows, or whatever.

Theatre Room is large enough for a cushy sectional couch and ottoman.  The atmosphere is complete with a red drape that pulls to open for large screen TV viewing.  There is even a room in back of the television for easy equipment maintenance.

Bedroom (1):  13 x 14:  One dormer window and an oversized walk-in closet.

Bedroom (2):  13 x 14.5.  Two dormer windows and a Jack n Jill bath.

Bedroom (3):  13 x 14.  One dormer and the Jack n Jill bath.

So much attention has been paid to all the many details that have gone into this home.  From the exterior:  Old Chicago bricks (actually from Chicago), the semi circle portico supported by concrete pillars, with concrete balusters and railings, all tied together with steel beams, to the gas lanterns on either side of the front door.  And the landscaping is the best!  Over an acre of it, and the sprinkler helps it remain so.  Security system, central vac, an 80 gallon water heater with a circulating pump, copper chimney caps and copper flashing.  Completed in 1998, and meticulously maintained since.  Great house.  Great neighborhood.

And an especially great asking price of only:  $645,000.
